The soldiers of the elite India Ghurka Regiment in Her Royal Majesty Queen Victoria's service had an insatiable appetite for quality and luxury even in such far flung places as the Indian continent.

Therefore, an appointment to Her Royal Majesties militia had to create a thicker more pliable weather resistant leather to not only meet the exacting criteria of these elite officers but to suffer and survive with grace the harsh conditions of their environs. Nearly a century later Marley Hodgeson uncovered and resurrected this long lost art of tanning, and in harmony with his classic design of leather goods created the Original Ghurka Collection.

The talented craftsmen in Ghurka's Norwalk, Connecticut factory handcraft each piece using custom made tools found only in the Ghurka factory.

The leather undergoes careful examination for consistency in integrity for a long life of service and the brass hardware comes from one of the last solid brass manufacturers in the world.

The quality and uniqueness of every Ghurka creation exhibits individuality that is timeless.
