Joseph Hartmann, a Bavarian immigrant trunk maker, began his
company in the U.S. nearly 120 years ago. The skills he employed
produced a standard of excellence rarely seen in any craft, and a
tradition at Hartmann that endured over a century.
Hartmann engineers design every piece of luggage to meet the
specific needs of the modern traveler, be they business or
pleasure. A few points of detail in Hartmann construction are as
follows. The fabrics used are the highest quality synthetic
fabrics available from the best mills in the country. The fabrics
found inside and outside the bag are treated for maximum water
and stain resistance. The fabrics are industrially sewn around
the unitized frames of ABS plastic (a plastic rubber compound
that resists fracturing from impacts) with 100% nylon thread,
used for its strength and resistance to degradation due to age.
The zippers are constructed in one continuous coil to avoid
missing zipper teeth and snagging delicate clothing. |
